Four Generation Vacation

John Harrison had lots of fun going on walks with his grandparents

Elise and John Harrison both slept during different parts of the drive to and from Clingman's Dome (John Harrison, my Dad, David, and I all walked to the lookout point while Grandmama and my Mom stayed at the car to watch Elise).

This week our family has been on vacation in East Tennessee with my parents and Grandmama. We are so thankful to have had the opportunity to take a trip together. My parents and Grandmama watched the kids several afternoons so David and I could go out together....this afternoon we enjoyed reading books and drinking coffee at Starbucks (a rarity these days).
Elise did fairly well on the drive up---she cried about 1/3 of the time, but that is much less than John Harrison cried on long car rides when he was Elise's age. John Harrison did really well on the drive---it had been 3 months since he had been on a long car ride and David and I noticed a huge difference on how he did on this trip compared to the last one. We have had a fun and relaxing time....as relaxing as traveling with 2 young children can be:). David and I love watching John Harrison have fun---he is always wanting to go "bye bye" and absolutely loves going places. Our 26 month old boy is maturing so much and made huge progress in playing by himself since Elise was born.
Hopefully we will have many more family trips in the future!! I remember how much I enjoyed my Grandmama traveling with us when we went on family vacations and hope that Elise and John Harrison have the same special memories as they grow up.
