Our favorite cruise stop was a port called Icy Strait Point. This port is near a very small town called Hoonah. We anchored close to the dock and took a tender boat into the port. The port area was set up in a big loop, which took us about 30 minutes to completely walk around. The main industry of the town was salmon fishing and a while ago, the town boasted the most productive salmon cannery in the world. The cannery had since closed, but was open as a free museum that was actually somewhat interesting. The roads around the port area were gravel and wound through a beautiful forest area and back around the shoreline. We mainly enjoyed this port because it was so serene, not very touristy, and scenic. One of the "excursions" was the world's longest zipline (I can't exactly remember the specs, but it started at the top of a neighboring mountain and ended near the shoreline....I think that top speeds coming down the zipline were supposedly around 60mph). We had fun sitting and watching the zipliners (we thought about doing it ourselves, but found it to be quite a bit overpriced!!).
